| I propose to establish a wound care center in Port-au-Prince to start with, followed by subsequent satellite clinics at larger cities throughout the country. A well established program must be up and going in PAP prior to expansion. Access to all is imperative; therefore I would recommend the clinic be at the University Hospital. There are other benefits to this location, the primary being it is a teaching facility and medical students and residents could rotate through this clinic thereby further educating the Haitian medical community of wound care. Another benefit would be that the University Hospital is already somewhat of a referral base | |
around PAP and the rest of the country. With proper medical community and public education of the program via the assistance of the Minister of Health, this clinic would fast become the central referral location for wounds. Public education could greatly be aided by information disseminated over the radio health network.
